The defense of Rexhep Selimi, represented by attorney Geoffrey Roberts, has reacted to the decision of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, under which Selimi was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Geoffrey Roberts told the media that the defense team was very disappointed with the verdict, but stressed that the decision announced represents only the first instance of the judicial process.
“We are very disappointed with the verdict, but it must be emphasized that this is only the first step, the first battle, in a way. Mr. Selimi intends to fully exercise his rights to appeal this decision through Kosovo’s legal framework, and we are convinced that in the end he will be acquitted of all charges,” Roberts said.
Asked about Selimi’s condition following the verdict, the attorney said he had met with his client and discussed the verdict with him. However, Roberts declined to provide further details.
“I’m sorry, but I will not take questions. I met with Mr. Selimi and we discussed the verdict, but I will not provide any further details,” Roberts said.
