The Democratic leader made no concessions in his accusations, declaring that the national currency had been transformed into a “narkos.”

Referring to a Eurostat study, Berisha said that our country had de facto become a washing machine for drug money.

“The lek has become the strongest currency on the planet against the eurozone. We will no longer call it 5,000 lekë; we will call it narkos. This Eurostat study declares Albania to be the above-ground washing machine for drug-trafficking money,” Berisha said.

According to him, huge financial flows are pouring into Albanian territory, with containers filled with euros and dollars.

“Edi Rama’s Albania emerges as the deepest narco-state compared with any other country. Albanian citizens are paying the bill for this trafficking,” the Democratic leader concluded.
