Through a post on his social network Truth Social, White House chief Donald Trump announced that Washington is reinstating the embargo on Iranian ports.
He clarified that the Strait of Hormuz maritime corridor will continue to be free for global traffic, while the new sanctions will exclusively affect the Islamic Republic.

“The Strait of Hormuz is and will remain open, with or without Iran’s presence. We are reactivating the Iranian blockade, which will only prevent Iranian vessels and their clients from entering or leaving. All other states will enjoy full and unrestricted access to the strait,” the president declared.
Trump then emphasized that America will embrace the duty of “Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz” and warned of the application of a 20 percent tax on all commercial shipments, aimed at covering the costs of maintaining security at this key maritime chokepoint.
“The mechanism and corresponding structuring will begin without delay,” the American leader concluded his message.
