A police officer has been arrested in Prrenjas after allegedly receiving a sum of money to favor a person under the security measure of “house arrest.”

The operation was carried out by the Police Oversight Agency, in cooperation with the Prosecution Office attached to the Elbasan Court of General Jurisdiction. As part of the investigative actions, Inspector Çlirim Torra was arrested. He served as a community police officer at the Prrenjas Police Station, a structure under the jurisdiction of the Librazhd Police Commissariat.
The suspicions raised by the investigation concern Torra’s alleged receipt of money in exchange for favoring the citizen identified by the initials A.R., who had been placed under the security measure of “house arrest.”
According to the investigation, the officer allegedly intended to help this person violate the security measure and leave the residence.
Inspector Çlirim Torra is being investigated for the criminal offenses of “passive corruption” and “abuse of office.”
The Prosecution Office and the Police Oversight Agency are continuing their work to fully clarify the circumstances and determine the responsibility of the individuals involved.
The Police Oversight Agency announced that it will continue investigating cases of corruption and abuse of office within law enforcement structures.
