A new statement given by the 27-year-old Afghan man arrested over the killing of a 38-year-old British woman in the Kypseli area of Athens has significantly changed the way the sequence of events is being presented.

Before the authorities, the suspect denied killing the woman. He stated that he had found the 38-year-old woman lifeless, lying on the bathroom floor of her apartment, and that he did not know what to do because he had panicked.
In his account, the 27-year-old also implicated an elderly man, whom he identified only as “Nikos.” According to him, the man agreed to help him remove the body but demanded money in return.
The arrested man claims that he took the victim’s bank cards to obtain the amount he had been asked for. He then allegedly handed “Nikos” the suitcase containing the woman’s body.
According to the 27-year-old’s version, the elderly man later began threatening him and repeatedly demanding money, blackmailing him by saying that he would report him to the police. So far, the official investigation has not confirmed these claims.
The suspect has admitted that after the incident he traveled to Arachova together with his wife. However, he claimed that she knew nothing about what had happened.
The 27-year-old has also admitted using the British woman’s mobile phone. From the victim’s device, he sent messages to her family members and friends, intending to make them think that the 38-year-old was still alive and well.
Later, according to his statement, he threw the woman’s mobile phone and bank cards into a garbage bin.
Greek authorities are continuing to examine the evidence collected and verify each claim made by the 27-year-old arrested man.
Investigators are seeking to establish the responsibility of every person involved, as well as determine whether the version given by the suspect is supported by evidence.
