Russian drone attacks on Ukraine continued overnight, despite Vladimir Putin declaring that Kyiv would not be attacked for 72 hours.

The Zaporizhzhia region came under fire, killing a 74-year-old man and injuring three other people, Ukrainian authorities reported. The attacks also damaged residential buildings.
Strikes were also reported in the area surrounding the capital, in the Kyiv region. Authorities said fires broke out across a wide area and were brought under control during the morning.
The Dnipropetrovsk region was also affected by the wave of attacks. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 108 drones, 82 of which were shot down by air defenses. Authorities said explosions or strikes were reported in at least 11 areas of the country.
Russian operations did not stop in the morning either. Putin’s 72-hour pause for Kyiv coincides with an important diplomatic period, as US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are expected to travel to the Ukrainian capital.
