The decision, issued on August 24 following a request by the Basic Prosecution Office, was welcomed by the University of Prishtina, which considers it a step toward protecting university property.

“Since the beginning of his mandate, Rector Arben Hajrullahu has been determined to protect university property, taking all necessary measures to prevent any attempt to transfer ownership of it to the detriment of the public interest,” the University of Prishtina said in a statement.

Fitore Pacolli, acting minister of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, also reacted to the court’s decision.

She said the security measure concerns an area of more than 68 ares in the Technical Faculties area, which, according to her, had been subject to attempts to transfer ownership.

“With this decision, the public property of the University of Prishtina is being protected from the risk of being transferred,” Pacolli wrote on Facebook.

According to her, the issue was addressed by the Committee for Environment, Food, Agriculture, Spatial Planning and Development, which she led as chair, with the support of other members of parliament.

“The contribution of every member of parliament was highly valuable in addressing this issue, especially the work and commitment of former MP Milazim Salijaj, with whom we requested that the claims and suspicions related to this property be investigated and addressed by the competent institutions,” she said.

Pacolli described the imposition of the security measure as an important development for the preservation of public property.

“I welcome this development and will continue to work to ensure that public properties are protected by law and through institutional responsibility,” she wrote.

The University of Prishtina expressed gratitude for the work of the former Parliamentary Committee and for the fact that the case was raised and addressed institutionally.

The University of Prishtina particularly thanked former MP Fitore Pacolli and Milazim Salijaj for their involvement in reviewing the issue and for their contribution to identifying problems that required investigation by the competent institutions.

“The University also expresses special gratitude to the prosecutorial system of the Republic of Kosovo, investigative institutions and all officials who, within the scope of their legal responsibilities, have contributed to addressing this case,” the University of Prishtina said in its statement.
