Former Italian paparazzo Fabrizio Corona faced an extortion attempt during the night between Thursday and Friday, September 3, in Milan. The threats were directed not only at him, but also at his son.

Two young men, whom Corona described as “former friends of his son,” contacted him by phone and through threatening messages, Italian media outlets, including La Repubblica and Il Giorno, reported.
They demanded 500 euros, warning him that if he did not give them the money, they would hurt him and his eldest son, Carlos Maria, whom Corona had with his former wife, Nina Moric.
After receiving the threats, Corona went to the complaints office on Via Fatebenefratelli in Milan. There, he handed the authorities the messages and evidence of his communications with the two suspects.
Investigators asked him to go to Via Noè. Corona drove to the address in his car, while two police teams monitored the situation from a distance to ensure his protection.
When he arrived at the meeting place, a 20-year-old man appeared, suspected of being the person who had sent the threatening messages. In a tense moment, he struck the rear window of Corona’s vehicle with a chain.
Police forces acted immediately and arrested the young man. His accomplice, aged 24, fled on foot, but the authorities managed to identify him.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 20-year-old on suspicion of attempted extortion, while investigations to clarify all the circumstances of the incident are continuing.
