Pretrial detention for A.S., who is suspected of killing a person in Mitrovica’s Roma neighborhood, has been extended for another two months by the Basic Court in Mitrovica.

The new decision stipulates that the detention measure will run from 25 August 2026 to 25 October 2026. This was confirmed to KosovaPress by Hateme Haxhaj, spokesperson for the Basic Court in Mitrovica.
The incident occurred on 27 May, when a knife attack in the Roma neighborhood resulted in the death of one person and the injury of his brother.
According to the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, the victim suffered throat wounds from a bladed weapon, specifically a knife. A.S. was arrested immediately after the incident and, on the orders of the prosecutor on duty at the Department for Serious Crimes, was remanded in custody.
