Inspectorate operation against tobacco trading near school premises, confiscations and penalties

The Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, operating under the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, carried out a series of inspections today in several locations across Kosovo to verify the sale of traditional and electronic cigarettes near educational institutions.

The operation covered seven urban centers—Pristina, Prizren, Mitrovica, Gjakova, Podujevo, Ferizaj and Peja—where a total of 20 on-site inspections were conducted.

Of these inspections, three cases proceeded to further administrative action, one fine was issued, while in another case cigarettes, electronic smoking devices and other items related to this category were confiscated.

According to the official communication from the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, the main aim of these inspections is to ensure compliance with the legal framework and prevent the sale of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes in areas surrounding schools, with particular emphasis on protecting younger age groups.

The supervisory authority warned that these inspections will be expanded to all regions of Kosovo, with the aim of ensuring compliance with legal regulations, consumer safety and the establishment of a more controlled commercial environment.
