According to data from the Customs Directorate, as reported by “Faktor”, during the period January-July 2026 a total of 36,614 passenger vehicles, new and used, entered the country. Of these, 8,832 were new vehicles, or about 24 percent of total imports.

The number of imported new vehicles has increased significantly compared to the same period in 2025. At that time, 7,594 such imports were recorded, while this year the figure is 1,238 vehicles higher, marking an increase of 16.3 percent.

The most pronounced increase was observed in July. In July 2026, 1,635 new passenger vehicles were imported, compared to 1,264 vehicles imported in July of last year. The difference translates to an annual increase of 29.4 percent.

However, used vehicles continue to dominate imports. In the first seven months of this year, 27,782 used vehicles were imported, while in the same period last year the number was 26,286, meaning an increase of 5.7 percent.

As a result, the import of new vehicles this year is growing at a rate almost three times faster than that of used vehicles.
