Media sources say there are concerns within the party about how the agreement was reached. According to them, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku did not consult the party structures in advance about Sejdiu’s candidacy.

Following Abdixhiku’s meeting with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the agreement on Sejdiu’s candidacy was made public.

Sejdiu confirmed that he had accepted the candidacy, stating that he had placed himself at the service of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens.

Meanwhile, Abdixhiku said that the LDK would support the agreement, stressing that the national interest must prevail over the party interest.

The LDK leadership is expected to meet on Tuesday, followed by a meeting with the Parliamentary Group.

The media sought comments from LDK lawmakers and officials, including Hykmete Bajrami, Avdullah Hoti, Armend Zemaj and Imri Ahmeti, but had not received a response by the time the report was published.

In addition to the political agreement between the two parties, the issue of securing the necessary number of votes in the Assembly for the election of the president remains unresolved.
