The director’s decision to evacuate the students in time made it possible to save around 900 children, just before the flood engulfed the area in Nepal. Among them was 16-year-old Yunisha.

“My friends and I escaped in the last 10 seconds,” she told the BBC.
According to Yunisha, she and the other students ran away along a narrow road covered in mud behind the school.
“In a very short time, everything was wiped off the face of the earth before my eyes,” the 16-year-old recounted.
Yunisha spoke about her experience together with her mother, Sabina Shrestha. The latter described the anxiety she experienced after learning about the flood.
“I was terrified. I tried several times to call my daughter and her father, but neither of them answered,” Shrestha said.
When she was finally able to communicate with Yunisha, her mother felt an initial sense of relief. However, the worry did not disappear completely, as her daughter returned home only three days later.
“I am extremely happy and relieved. God saved my daughter,” the 16-year-old’s mother said.
