The prime minister has planned two important meetings in Pogradec, beginning this weekend and continuing at the start of next week.

On Sunday, at 11:30 a.m., the 12 political leaders of the counties are expected to meet at the government villa in the lakeside city, together with the Socialist chairs of the parliamentary committees.

According to sources from the Socialist Party, the discussions will focus on the document “Besa” and another document titled “The Presence of Besa,” which was submitted to the Socialist parliamentary group at the end of July.

Rama is expected to receive comments and suggestions on the two documents from this meeting, with the aim of refining them and drafting a final version. Preparations for the 2027 local elections will also be on the agenda.

On Sunday afternoon and evening, the prime minister will have dinner with the political leaders, the chairs of the parliamentary committees and the ministers. The meeting is expected to help ease August tensions ahead of the performance assessment scheduled for Monday.

During the informal government meeting, known as a “retreat,” the ministers will present reports on the work of their ministries during the January-August 2026 period.

This time, unlike previous retreats, the deputy ministers will not be present at the meeting. Participation will be limited to the ministers and the directors of the agencies under their authority.

As in similar meetings in previous years, each minister’s report will also include their media activity and presence on social networks.

Rama’s political agenda does not end with the meetings in Pogradec. Sources from the Socialist Party say that the Socialist National Assembly may convene in the first week of September.

Previous meetings of this body have been used by Edi Rama to announce changes to the government cabinet.

One of the main questions is whether the prime minister will use this assembly to change the heads of at least 6 ministries.

The countdown has already begun.
