Kosovo Police Director General Gazmend Hoxha announced that several operations had been carried out in the municipality of Zubin Potok to identify and seize illegal weapons. The operation was undertaken in cooperation with the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency and the War Crimes Investigation Directorate.

According to Hoxha, the searches were conducted from August 6 to 17, following information obtained through various operational sources and in cooperation with citizens.
During this period, the authorities searched a total of 48 locations, where they discovered significant quantities of weapons, ammunition and other illegal items. Hoxha said firearms and explosives remain a major threat to citizens’ safety, while the operations were conducted with the aim of preventing their illegal possession.
As a result of the searches, 72 weapons were found: two machine guns, 11 AK-47 long guns, 22 long guns of various types, 27 hunting rifles, nine handguns and one air rifle.
The teams also discovered seven explosive devices, seven hand grenades, plastic grenade packaging components, metal components of explosive devices and 4,831 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
Hoxha said that numerous weapon parts, magazines, weapon optics, weapons cases and storage containers were also seized during the operations. The confiscated equipment also included knives, gas masks, binoculars, radios, radio chargers, axes and other combat equipment.
The materials found also included a large number of uniforms, military bags belonging to the Serbian army and Serbian police, as well as other equipment linked to military purposes.
During the raids, the authorities seized documents, war veteran cards, handgun permits, UNMIK weapons permits and other expired permits.
In addition, €6,100 and 5,000 Swiss francs were seized, the Kosovo Police Director General said.
