The decision to allow consumption was made at a meeting of the Main Crisis Management Headquarters, during which the latest test results and information on the condition of the water in Gostivar’s water supply system were reviewed.
The Headquarters announced that the latest analyses confirmed that the water meets microbiological and bacteriological standards, allowing it to be used for consumption again.
The safety of the water was also confirmed by the director of the Food and Veterinary Agency. However, the authorities advise residents to turn on their taps and let the water run thoroughly before drinking it.
“As of today, the water in Gostivar is safe to drink,” Stojançe Angellov, director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue and head of the Main Crisis Management Headquarters, said at a press conference.
