A 19-year-old woman died in a traffic accident on the Strumica–Novo Selo road, while police arrested a Strumica resident who was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.75 per mille, the Interior Ministry said.

According to police, the incident was reported to the Strumica Police Department on August 13, 2026. The collision occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on the main road toward the Strumica–Novo Selo border crossing, within the territory of the village of Trnovo.
The accident involved a Seat Leon passenger vehicle with Strumica license plates, driven by S.B. (29) from Strumica, and an unregistered motorcycle ridden by A.D. (19) from the village of Ilovica.
The motorcycle passenger, K.J. (19), died at the scene from her injuries. Her death was confirmed by an emergency medical services doctor. The motorcycle rider, A.D., sustained bodily injuries, which were confirmed at the Strumica Medical Center.
An alcohol test administered to the driver of the Seat showed that he had a blood alcohol level of 1.75 per mille, after which he was taken into custody. The authorities also determined that A.D. was riding an unregistered motorcycle and did not have a driver’s license.
Because of the accident, traffic on the Strumica–Novo Selo border crossing highway near Turnovo was blocked in both directions from midnight until 2:30 a.m. By order of the public prosecutor, the victim’s body was sent for an autopsy./Telegrafi/
