Her statement was published just two days after KFOR announced that it had begun gradually reducing its permanent presence at the Ibar Bridge and progressively involving the Kosovo Police in ensuring the security of the Deçan Monastery.

Hart said NATO is ensuring that KFOR adapts to current conditions based on the improved security situation. According to her, under the continued leadership of KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş, the mission has begun reorganizing its deployment in close coordination with all relevant authorities and parties.

She stressed that these changes represent tangible progress in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents of Kosovo and in ensuring freedom of movement. According to Hart, this commitment is being carried out in accordance with the mandate established by UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999.

The spokesperson clarified that the process is determined by conditions on the ground and can be reversed if necessary.

According to Hart, NATO remains committed to long-term security in Kosovo and stability in the region, for the benefit of all communities.
