Unit A4 was taken out of operation in a controlled manner on August 11, 2026, at 00:00, after a hydrogen gas (H₂) leak was detected in the generator near bearing No. 7, the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) announced.

KEK explained that the measure was taken as a precaution and in accordance with technical safety standards, in order to create the conditions for inspecting the equipment and carrying out the necessary interventions.
Immediately after the shutdown, professional teams began verifying the technical condition, determining the source of the leak and working to resolve the problem.
According to the corporation, Unit A4 will be put back into operation once the inspections and technical interventions have been completed and it has been confirmed that the conditions for safe operation have been met.
The public will be informed in a timely manner of any further developments, including when the unit will return to operation, KEK announced.
