Citizens say they want the current political class removed and a new system of government established.

The protests initially began in opposition to the construction of a resort in the Zvërnec area, but over time they have grown into a broader citizens’ movement that also includes political demands.

Participants say they are determined to continue protesting every day until their demand for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation is met.

At yesterday’s protest, citizens chanted against the government and the prime minister, with the main slogans including “Rama, resign,” “Your end has come!”, “System change,” and “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison.”

Despite 73 days having passed since the first protest, the number of citizens taking part remains high, while large protests involving members of the diaspora have been announced for August 14, 15 and 16.
