On Friday evening, citizens from Divjakë and the surrounding administrative units joined the protest. They reiterated their opposition to the territorial reform project, which foresees the merger of the Municipality of Divjakë with that of Lushnjë.

At the rally, citizens were given the opportunity to speak through an open microphone. Participants presented their concerns and called for the community’s wishes to be taken into consideration during decision-making.

Some of the protesters burned their Socialist Party membership cards, while organizers began collecting signatures for a petition addressed to state institutions. The petition calls for the cancellation of the proposed territorial changes.

Once again this evening, the rally concluded with citizens marching through the streets of Divjakë.

Residents have said that the protests will continue until a decision is made that, in their view, ensures the preservation of Divjakë as a separate municipality.
