With seven votes in favor, none against and no abstentions, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has approved the opening of a competition for the selection of new state prosecutors.

A total of 209 prosecutor positions have been approved within the prosecutorial system, 34 of which are currently vacant. Ten of these positions will be reserved for candidates from the Serb community as an affirmative action measure.
KPC Deputy Chair Dardan Vuniqi explained that 177 active prosecutors are currently serving as state prosecutors. According to human resources planning, two prosecutors are expected to end their terms due to retirement, bringing the number of vacant positions included in the competition to 34.
Vuniqi said that the Committee on Budget, Finance and Administration of Prosecutor’s Offices, based on official KPC data, had confirmed a total of 209 approved positions. After analyzing staffing needs, the committee determined that 10 positions could be reserved for candidates from the Serb community.
The competition will be published on August 17 and will remain open for 15 days.
