A 12-year-old was caught operating a Jet Ski in the waters off Dhërmi beach, prompting the intervention of the Border Police and the Marine Police Unit.

During checks aimed at ensuring safety in maritime areas, officers stopped the watercraft and carried out the relevant inspections. They found that the operator was a minor and that the mandatory documentation was not on board.
For the violations identified, the Jet Ski’s owner, identified by the initials M. Xh., was fined 10,000 new lek, while the watercraft was seized by the authorities.
The Border Police appealed to owners and businesses that rent out watercraft not to hand them over to people who do not meet the legal requirements to operate them, particularly minors, because of the danger they pose to their own lives and those of other holidaymakers.
Checks along the coastline are continuing to ensure compliance with navigation rules and prevent situations that could endanger safety at sea.
