Government in Search of a New Enemy: This Time Albanians from Kosovo and North Macedonia Are in the Crosshairs

Taulant Balla describes this situation as “Sali’s protest.” He then mentions “the arrivals from the opposition swamp” and goes as far as referring to “a flock of incubators of hatred from Pristina and Tetovo, disguised as eagles of the diaspora.”

At first they were labeled “Russian agents.” Then “Iranians.” Later, “Serbs” and “Greeks” were added to the list. Now, following the same pattern, Albanians from Kosovo and North Macedonia have also been targeted.

Everything suggests that the government needs to constantly find a new opponent in order to avoid answering for the reasons that drive citizens to protest. When propaganda is no longer enough, the target of attack changes.

What stands out most is the fact that the smearing is now extending to Albanians across the border as well. Those whom on November 28 we call brothers, and about whom we proudly emphasize that we are one nation, are suddenly being described as “incubators of hatred” simply because they take part in a protest.

Whenever the “enemy” of the protest changes from one week to the next, the problem does not lie with the protesters. The problem lies with the government, which, after exhausting external enemies, goes so far as to declare even Albanians to be enemies.

In this logic, it seems that the only one left undeclared an enemy would be whoever agrees with Rama.
