Drone attack on St. Petersburg, oil terminal at port hit and fires break out, Putin’s birthplace on alert

St. Petersburg, the city where Russian President Vladimir Putin was born, has been shaken by a series of explosions, while Ukrainian media report that an oil terminal in the port area was hit in a drone attack.

RBC-Ukraine, citing Russian public Telegram channels, including the OSINT Exilenova+ group, said that explosions and fires were recorded after the terminal was hit. Earlier, local authorities had warned of possible internet disruptions, but despite this residents shared videos and photos on social media that are claimed to show the aftermath of the attack.

In a separate statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense systems had shot down 389 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones in various regions of the European part of Russia, during the period from 20:00 on Friday until 07:00 on Saturday, according to Moscow time.

According to Russian authorities, these drones were intercepted in the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Kursk, Leningrad, Lipetsk, Moscow, Novgorod, Orel, Pskov, Ryazan, Rostov, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula, Tver and Vladimir, as well as over annexed Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

Meanwhile, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, announced that during the night between Friday and Saturday, the airports of Ivanovo and Pskov were temporarily closed for security reasons.
