At midday this Tuesday, journalist and analyst Ilir Demaliaj was attacked near his home in Tirana, suffering facial injuries. After the incident, he was taken to hospital to receive the necessary medical assistance.
According to preliminary information, the episode occurred at around 12:00 on “Çamëria” Street. Demaliaj reported that he was struck immediately after leaving his home.

In his statement to police, he denied that the conflict had a political background, clarifying that it was a clash with a resident of the area.
According to him, the person suspected of being the attacker accused him of having notified the police about the ticketing of vehicles parked illegally on the street.
After receiving the report about the incident, police officers went to the scene and, following swift investigative actions, identified the suspected perpetrator as a citizen with the initials R. S., who has been declared wanted.
As part of the procedural actions, the vehicle suspected of having been used by the perpetrator has also been blocked and seized.
Under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigative team is continuing its work to fully clarify the circumstances of this incident, while police are engaged in locating and arresting the wanted person.
