Unusual Hailstorm at the Height of Summer “Whitens” Kolonja, Vineyards Badly Damaged

A hailstorm resembling snow has hit Kolonja, causing damage to vineyards.

The bad weather in the southeast has also affected the agriculture sector. In Kamnik, a remote village in Kolonja, heavy hail lasted around 15 minutes and caused major damage to the vineyards of local residents, who are traditionally engaged in this activity.

Meanwhile, the damage in the area is expected to be assessed by a working group from the Municipality of Kolonja.

For farmers in Devoll, Korça, Maliq and Kolonja, this is the sixth consecutive time they have been hit by hail, while to this day they have not received any compensation.

First, reports are drafted by municipal employees, in cooperation with specialists from the agricultural extension directorate. These documents are then sent to the National Civil Protection Agency, which depending on the case has never returned a positive response for compensation.
