Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration, has reacted to the protest that has been taking place in Tirana for 25 days, expressing concern about the consequences that, according to him, this situation could bring to Albania.
In a statement to the media, he underlined the historic importance Albania has had for Albanians in the region, especially for Kosovo, stressing that the country has played a key role in the processes of its freedom and state-building.

Ahmeti said he is following developments in Albania with concern and assessed that the protests are dealing the country “two hard blows,” highlighting the impact they could have on tourism and the investment climate.
According to him, tourism, which constitutes one of the main pillars of the Albanian economy, risks being affected by insecurity and by the image created abroad. He also mentioned the consequences that, in his view, the protests could bring for domestic and foreign investors.
“The main branch of industry is being hit, tourism; foreign and domestic investments are being hit. No investor risks his capital where there is insecurity,” the DUI leader declared.
He clarified that his position is not connected to defending certain political figures, but to Albania’s interest, emphasizing that its stability and development are important for all Albanians.
In the end, Ahmeti called on citizens to carefully assess the consequences of political developments, while warning that tensions and insecurity could harm not only Albania, but also the interests of Albanians in the region.
