German Foreign Ministry spokesperson Martin Giese was asked during a public appearance about the ongoing protests being held in Tirana.
Giese was specifically asked whether the German government is in contact with the protesters in Albania and whether Berlin knows what the protesters themselves are demanding and what it expects from Edi Rama’s government in relation to the protests.

In response, Giese said briefly that protests are a right of citizens, but described them as an internal political matter for Albania.
“Of course, people in Albania have the right to protest. But this is an internal political matter in Albania. We cannot provide any more information on this,” Giese said.
