All banks will carry out scheduled technical updates to their systems over the weekend, the Macedonian Banking Association announced. The work is part of preparations for new standards for payment transactions in denars, which take effect on Monday, November 9.
While the technical work is underway, some services may be temporarily suspended or have limited availability. The restrictions may particularly affect payment transactions and are linked to the scheduled system updates.

According to the association, the system work follows previously announced changes involving new payment orders, payment purpose codes and the use of payment accounts in IBAN format. The updates are intended to ensure these changes are implemented smoothly in the day-to-day use of payment services. Each bank will notify its customers separately of the exact timing of the work, the services affected and the expected duration of the restrictions.
The association urges individuals and businesses to check their banks’ official channels regularly and plan ahead for payments they need to make during this period, based on the published notices. Existing payment account numbers will not change. Banks will handle the adjustments to how accounts are displayed and used in IBAN format in online and mobile banking services.
