They were welcomed by Rexhep Selimi’s wife, Shqipe Mehmeti-Selimi, a member of Kosovo’s parliament and a former fighter in the Kosovo Liberation Army.
In its announcement about the visit, the Vetëvendosje Movement again opposed the September 16 verdict concerning the former KLA leaders, calling it unjust. The party said efforts to secure justice would continue until their full release, so that Rexhep Selimi could return as soon as possible to the country he fought for and where he never ceased his work.
The announcement also recalled November 5 six years ago, when Selimi laid flowers beside Astrit Dehari’s grave to mark the anniversary of his death before leaving for The Hague.
According to the Vetëvendosje Movement, November 5 has since become a day that brings them together and unites them, reminding them how deeply they miss their two comrades.
