Inside, he searched the rooms and took several items of little value. Instead of leaving, however, he lay down on one of the beds and stayed there overnight.
A neighbor noticed his presence and alerted the authorities. When the Carabinieri arrived at the house, they found the 42-year-old asleep. After waking him, they arrested him and handed him over to the judicial authorities.
According to preliminary information, the 42-year-old had gone to Arezzo province to work in construction. He is believed to have been looking for a place to spend the night but ended up entering the private home without permission.
The exact reasons he stayed in the house where he had committed the theft are still unknown. Possibilities under consideration include fatigue, low temperatures or possible alcohol consumption.
