The death toll from the powerful explosion that rocked the city of Elbasan at midday on Wednesday has risen. After more than 17 hours of continuous searching, 69-year-old Hamit Ibra, who had been missing since the explosion, was found dead beneath the rubble of the apartment building.
Earlier, 82-year-old Hatixhe Berisha also lost her life as a result of the explosion.

Two specialized search and rescue teams, comprising a total of 17 personnel, took part in the operation, working throughout the night to locate the 69-year-old.
More than 10 residents, including elderly people and children, were also evacuated from the building’s upper floors. An emergency ladder was used to bring them to safety.
Meanwhile, residents who suffered mild asphyxiation received the necessary medical care and returned to their families after treatment.
