Kaçanik and Ferizaj were the first stops for Social Democratic Initiative leader Fatmir Limaj in a series of meetings with party officials, associates, activists and citizens. The discussions are being held under the theme “Kosovo after the September 16 judgment”.
In a post about the meetings, Limaj announced that the series began today and that discussions focused on the political situation and the difficulties Kosovo is facing. According to him, participants raised concerns about preserving the dignity of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) war, the adoption of the Law on the Specialist Chambers, the economy, national security, worsening social conditions and the growing number of incidents of violence in society.

Limaj highlighted citizens’ dissatisfaction and concern over the handling of the Law on the Specialist Chambers and its return to the Assembly. He said citizens were seeking explanations and expected accountability.
In the Social Democratic Initiative leader’s assessment, Kosovo has changed since September 16. He stressed that the judgment delivered in The Hague on September 16 should not be treated merely as a matter concerning the individuals on trial, since, in his view, its impact extends beyond them.
Limaj said the judgment had dealt Kosovo a severe blow, undermining the dignity of the liberation war and citizens’ sense of justice. He insisted that the KLA fought for freedom and that no judgment could call that truth into question.
Limaj announced that the meetings with associates, activists and citizens would extend to all cities. The aim, he said, is to hear their concerns, demands and expectations directly.
In closing, he called for responsibility, determination and action for Kosovo, stressing that institutions must respond appropriately to the country’s challenges and work in the interests of the state and its citizens.
