Young protester: Civilians hit me with iron bars; we will not leave until Rama resigns, they will find us here until death

A young man taking part in the protest said that protesters would not leave the square until Prime Minister Edi Rama steps down. He expressed dissatisfaction with the economic situation, corruption and what he described as violence against protesters.

“We will not back down; we will only move forward. We want Edi Rama’s resignation. Until he leaves, we will not leave the square. We are against Rama and against Berisha. Our cause remains,” the young man said.

He stressed that the protest was linked to the many problems citizens are facing, highlighting corruption and economic hardship.

“There is only corruption here. Even if you earn a salary of 10,000 euros, it is not enough. How is this man supposed to support his children until 5 o’clock when there are no conditions at all?” the protester said.

The young man also accused law enforcement officers of violence, saying that he had been beaten by civilians with iron bars.

“These are not police officers; they are gangs. Civilians hit me with iron bars,” he said.

He appealed to citizens who have not joined the protest, inviting them to gather in the square.

“This appeal is directed at the indifferent. Let us gather and drive this one out. They will find us here until death. There is no chance of breaking up the protest,” he said.
