Prime Minister Edi Rama announced this afternoon that, starting next year, children will stay at school until 5:00 p.m.
According to Rama, extending the school day will make it easier for working parents to organize their schedules. Meanwhile, students will have the opportunity to take part in sports and cultural activities, which also promote social interaction.

Rama said that, in cooperation with civil society, the expansion of social activities aims to provide opportunities involving sports, culture, the performing arts, painting, crafts and photography. He added that a budget had been allocated for the extended school day and that the measure would begin next year, stating: “We have set aside a budget so that parents can work, while children will be at school until 5 in the afternoon.”
The prime minister also announced that consultations would be held with parents and teachers regarding restrictions on social media use by minors.
