Video/ Trump clashes with Reuters journalist: “You’re sick and disgusting, take care of your physical fitness

Donald Trump got into a heated exchange with Reuters journalist Jacob Bogage after Bogage asked whether the cancellation of a planned visit to Kansas was related to fatigue or concerns about the U.S. president’s health.

The confrontation took place on Thursday, October 29, after Trump returned from a campaign event in South Carolina. The president was speaking with reporters near Air Force One.

Bogage initially asked Trump about his health, referring to the many trips he had made in recent weeks as part of the campaign for the U.S. midterm elections.

Trump said he felt very well. However, his tone changed when the journalist asked whether fatigue might have been the reason for not traveling to Kansas.

“You’re crazy to ask a question like that. You’re sick. Who are you with?” Trump told the reporter.

When the journalist clarified that he worked for Reuters, the president continued criticizing him and the news agency. “You’re a sick person. Reuters is terrible, by the way,” he said.

Bogage clarified that he had only meant to confirm that the president was all right. The answer did not calm Trump, who then commented on the journalist’s appearance.

“Look at this guy, he’s very out of shape. You’re disgusting. Take care of your physical fitness; you look terrible,” the U.S. president said.

Trump insisted that he was in excellent health and denied that the cancellation of the trip to Kansas had anything to do with his health or fatigue. He said he did not think it was necessary to attend the event in person because the Republican candidate he had planned to support, Senator Roger Marshall, was performing well in the race, he said.

The president announced that he would hold a remote campaign event instead of attending in person, and also confirmed that he would travel to Florida.
