In Radovish, inspectors seized approximately 2 tons of fresh and frozen meat, along with unsafe meat preparations. The products are expected to be destroyed today at the Drisla landfill.
Meanwhile, 50 kilograms of meat preparations, including pečenica, kulen and smoked ham, were confiscated in Pepelishte. The products belonged to an individual who was producing smoked and sliced meat products without the agency’s approval.
AUV said the products had no declaration of origin and had been processed and stored in unsuitable, unhygienic conditions. As a result, they posed a serious risk to food safety and consumers’ health.
The relevant authorities will continue inspections to protect public health and prevent the illegal production and sale of unsafe food, AUV said in its statement.
