Tirana International Airport continues runway investments for the 2027 season

Tirana International Airport will carry out an important phase of work on the runway and supporting infrastructure during November, as part of Kastrati Group’s ongoing investment program, focused on improving safety, operational efficiency and airport infrastructure standards.

The work will take place from November 9 to 26, with planned airport closures during nighttime hours on selected dates within this period.

The schedule has been set to minimize the impact on operations while allowing sufficient time for the technical work to be carried out safely and in accordance with the relevant standards.

The work is part of preparations for the 2027 season and aims to meet the continued growth in air traffic and passenger numbers, as well as rising market demand. The investments are intended to strengthen Tirana International Airport’s capacity and provide more modern, resilient infrastructure prepared for future operational needs.

The investments also support preparations for major international events that Albania is expected to host, including the NATO Summit.

The project will include the full rehabilitation of a significant section of the runway surface, the installation of a new LED airport lighting system, improvements to taxiways, and other work in the terminal.

Because of the planned closures from November 9 to 26, some flights may have changes to their departure or arrival times. Passengers with bookings during this period are advised to pay close attention to any notices from their airline and regularly check the messages and emails used when making their booking.

If a flight schedule changes, the relevant airline will notify passengers using the contact details provided in the booking.

Passengers are therefore advised to check the latest information about their flight before heading to the airport.

Tirana International Airport continues to coordinate closely with airlines and operational partners to minimize the impact of the work and ensure a safe, coordinated and efficient process throughout the intervention period.
