Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that Albanian parties from Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa have agreed to run with the joint “Albanian Coalition” list in Serbia’s parliamentary elections, which will be held on October 25.
He announced the news in a Facebook post. According to Kurti, after discussions, representatives of the political entities brought their positions closer together and undertook a joint commitment.

Kurti expressed his gratitude to the party leaders who contributed to the agreement: Shaip Kamberi (PVD), Visar Memeti (APN), Nagip Arifi (PD), Agim Sabedini (PDSH), Shqiprim Musliu (LPD), Sami Salihu (LR), Armend Aliu (AL) and Naser Aziri (UDSH).
He also thanked the chairman of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi; the mayor of the Municipality of Preševo, Ardita Sinani; the mayor of the Municipality of Bujanovac, Arbër Pajaziti; representatives from Medveđa, Bajram Mustafa and Arben Ferati; and the representative from Novi Pazar, Amina Nura.

Today, at the Office of the Prime Minister, representatives of the participating political entities from Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa signed an agreement on a joint list, the “Albanian Coalition,” in Serbia’s parliamentary elections on October 25.
The discussions and efforts to bring positions closer together culminated in a willingness to cooperate and a joint commitment. I thank the leaders of the political entities—Shaip Kamberi (PVD), Visar Memeti (APN), Nagip Arifi (PD), Agim Sabedini (PDSH), Shqiprim Musliu (LPD), Sami Salihu (LR), Armend Aliu (AL) and Naser Aziri (UDSH)—for their engagement. Despite their differences, they showed a willingness to engage in dialogue and take responsibility before the citizens.
My gratitude also goes to the chairman of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi; the mayor of the Municipality of Preševo, Ardita Sinani; the mayor of the Municipality of Bujanovac, Arbër Pajaziti; representatives from Medveđa, Bajram Mustafa and Arben Ferati; as well as the representative from Novi Pazar, Amina Nura. Their contribution was part of this joint effort. Agreements are built on trust, keeping one’s word and working together; implementing them with dedication will prove their value over time.
The Albanian Coalition is an important step, but political unity is not enough. Inequality in rights is also an injustice. In the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Serbs are guaranteed 10 of the 120 seats. Applying the same principle, Albanians from Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa should have at least five reserved seats in the Parliament of Serbia, which has 250 seats. Guaranteed representation must be respected both in Kosovo and in our northern neighbor, in accordance with the principles of equality and rights.
Rights and identity are the foundation of our commitment to the Albanians of the Preševo Valley. This means protection from the discriminatory deactivation of addresses, fair representation in public institutions and economic development. Our language, culture, symbols and collective memory form part of our identity and our responsibility toward future generations. Behind each of these demands lies the hope of working, building families and living with dignity in our homeland.
Although this path has been accompanied by difficulties and divisions, we believe that shared responsibility can bring about useful work for citizens. Dignified representation requires steadfastness in the face of injustices, prudence in decision-making and dedication to people’s needs.
The Republic of Kosovo will continue to stand by the Albanians of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa in defending their rights, identity and well-being. Our commitment to equality, dignity and the opportunity for everyone to build their future in their homeland will continue.
