Mickoski opposes constitutional change for Bulgarians: There are around 3,000 citizens in the country

North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said in Washington that including Bulgarians in the Constitution, as part of the European integration process, is not reasonable in his view, InfoShqip reports.

Speaking at a discussion organized by the Atlantic Council, Mickoski referred to the data from the latest census, according to which the Bulgarian community in the country consists of around 3,000 citizens.

“We are not talking about 300,000, nor 3 million, nor 300 million. We are talking about 3,000 citizens. Why should we do this?” he said.

According to the prime minister, Bulgarians are already included in the Preamble of the Constitution through the category “others.” He also placed the issue in the context of discussions on human rights.

Mickoski once again stressed that the path toward membership in the European Union should be determined by merit and not by bilateral issues. /InfoShqip.com
