According to the State Audit Office, payments made as part of court proceedings for employment disputes amounted to 3.97 billion denars, a sum equivalent to around €64.37 million, Faktor reports.
Of the total amount, approximately €33.2 million constituted the principal debt. The remaining €31.15 million was used for interest, court and enforcement costs, accounting for 48.39 percent of the funds paid.
The audit report also highlights a significant increase in the number of employment cases. The number of unresolved cases rose from 9,361 in 2021 to 24,556 in 2025.
Payments made through enforcement orders accounted for 95.36 percent of the total, while only 4.64 percent were made voluntarily.
The State Audit Office assesses that the institutions have not established a sufficiently efficient and organized system for handling employment disputes. The findings also include inaccuracies in regulations, differing applications of legal provisions, and limited use of alternative mechanisms for resolving disputes.
Of the 85 institutions asked to submit data, 69 provided responses. Of these, 12 stated that they had made no payments for employment disputes during the period under review. /Telegrafi/
