The national artificial intelligence strategy is expected to be approved by the end of the year, Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski announced. The activities envisaged in the document also include the adoption of a law on the use of artificial intelligence.

The working group will hold a meeting tomorrow at the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Following the meeting, the draft version will be published in the Single National Electronic Register of Regulations (ENER), after which public debates will also be held.
“I expect us to approve it by the end of the year. One of the activities included in the strategy is consideration of adopting a law on the use of artificial intelligence. This means regulating not the production or creation of artificial intelligence, but its proper, ethical and principled use for the benefit of artificial intelligence,” Andonovski said.
Speaking about the construction of the National Data Center, the minister announced that talks are underway with potential financiers of the project. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport is considering the procedure required to use the site near Bunardzik.
“The site will be near Skopje, close to one of the industrial development zones. It is state-owned land that is not used for agriculture or anything else, so we will use this area. Photovoltaic power plants have already been built nearby. In the second phase, in addition to the data center, we also plan to build a photovoltaic power plant, which will supply 30 to 40 percent of the electricity consumed,” Andonovski said.
