Director of the Customs Administration Boban Nikollovski said that the institution he leads will continue to fight every form of crime within its ranks uncompromisingly and resolutely. He made the comments in response to journalists’ questions about the deputy director suspected of accepting bribes, who was recently arrested.

He stressed that every employee suspected of involvement in criminal acts will face severe sanctions.
“On April 14, Customs Day, in my speech, I sent a message to all employees of the Customs Administration that we would fight crime within our ranks thoroughly and harshly. We have demonstrated this over the past 26 months, initially through customs officers at the lower levels and now also at one of the highest levels of Customs. Anyone who is part of the institution and is suspected of having committed criminal acts will be severely sanctioned, and the evidence of this is already visible. As the Customs Administration, we will do everything necessary and within our authority. However, the procedure is being conducted by the competent Prosecutor’s Office, while the arrest was carried out by the police. We will await the official communication and then take the appropriate measures,” Nikollovski said.
The statement was made at the Tabanovce border crossing, where the Customs Administration presented the completion of projects implemented under the action document “EU against organized crime, with support for trade.”
