The case was registered by the IPK on September 14, 2026, following a referral by the Kosovo Police. At the center of the investigation is an officer serving at the Border Police Station at the airport.
Initial investigations showed that on September 9, an airport employee reported losing 105 euros. After reviewing security camera footage, it was established that the money had been found by a female traveler, a Kosovo citizen living in Germany.
The traveler handed the money to a police officer, the IPK announced, Klankosova.tv reports.
During questioning, the officer acknowledged receiving the money but said he had not handed it over or handled it in accordance with the legal rules and institutional procedures applicable in such cases.
Case documents show that the money was later placed in the donation box of a charitable organization at the airport.
On the grounds that there was reasonable suspicion and that the measure would help ensure the proper conduct of the investigation, the IPK recommended that the Kosovo Police suspend the officer with pay.
The investigation is being conducted on suspicion of the criminal offenses of “Misappropriation in Office” and “Misuse of Another Person’s Property”.
