Investigations into the tritol explosion that occurred on the evening of September 12 in the center of Shkodër have revealed new details.

The explosive device was placed at the home of Mehdin Bushati, which is located near Shkodër City Hall. The suspect is believed to have acted alone and fled immediately after the incident on a motorcycle.
According to security camera footage, the suspected individual had concealed his face and was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle he used had been modified to resemble a pizza delivery vehicle.
The explosion caused no injuries, only material damage. Mehdin Bushati, who works as a teacher, said he had no knowledge of the motives or the perpetrators behind the incident.
At the time of the explosion, he was at home with his wife. According to sources, the teacher was not fully cooperative with police while giving his statement.
The investigative team is examining the possibility that the incident may be linked to his brother, Gëzim, alias Naser Bushati. The latter has been living in Germany for years, while his most recent visit to Albania took place 2-3 years ago.
The building is arranged so that Mehdin Bushati lives on the first floor, while the second floor belongs to his brother.
Gëzim Bushati, who according to sources changed his name to Naser, has been sentenced to prison on two occasions: once to 5 years in Romania and once to two years in Germany.
Shkodër local police suspect that, due to problems he may have abroad, the explosive device may have been thrown into his home as a threatening message.
Another line of inquiry is that the perpetrator acted for payment. He is suspected of approaching the home, throwing the explosive into the yard and then fleeing in an unknown direction.
The masked perpetrator has still not been identified. To solve the case, investigators are analyzing security camera footage.
The explosion occurred at around 21:30 the previous evening and was so powerful that it shook residents in central Shkodër, as well as those in other areas. Dozens of tourists who were near the city center were also left frightened.
At the same time, just a few meters away, a concert featuring music and games for children and Shkodër families was taking place in the square in front of Shkodër City Hall.
Police are continuing their investigation to document and fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
