Bedri Hamza, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, described September 16 as a date of extraordinary importance for his political formation, ahead of the announcement by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague of the verdict against the former commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Speaking to reporters, Hamza stressed that the PDK is convinced the verdict will favor the defendants, highlighting the just character of the liberation war.
“For us as a party, September 16 carries particular importance. We firmly believe in an acquittal for the KLA. The armed conflict of the people of Kosovo was a legitimate effort to secure freedom and sovereignty. From the way that war was conducted, it is clear that there is no basis for any conclusion other than acquittal,” the PDK leader said ahead of the constitutive session of the Assembly.
In another development, Hamza revealed that his party has nominated Vlora Çitaku for the position of deputy speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo.
