Minister Besfort Lamallari announced this during a meeting with young people interested in the profession and Albanian professionals who have been working as firefighters in Finland and Germany for years.
“We have begun work to improve the legal basis for a system that is as effective as possible in preventing and protecting against fires in the country, including reviewing the age criterion for admission to the service,” Lamallari said.
The discussions focused on the need for a comprehensive reform of the legislation and on strengthening the professional skills of firefighting structures.
The experience of Albanians practicing this profession in European Union countries will also be taken into account in drafting the amendments.
Lamallari expressed his appreciation for Alban, Bojken and Angjele, who work in Finland, as well as for Grein and Luçiano, who serve in Germany.
According to the Ministry of Interior, ties with Albanian professionals living abroad will continue through training, the exchange of experience and cooperation with their European counterparts.
Another important focus will be attracting young people who want to join the firefighting service.
