According to Gashi, the verdict cannot change the place that the four former KLA leaders hold in Kosovo’s history. He described them as part of a glorious chapter, during a period when Kosovo’s freedom, peace and stability in the region were goals worth fighting for.
Gashi stressed that Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi took on historic responsibilities and had the courage to work to bring freedom to their people. He added that, for Albanians, they continue to be regarded as Kosovo’s liberators.
In his reaction, the speaker of the Macedonian parliament described the KLA’s war, as well as the sacrifice and selflessness of its members and leaders, as the path that led to Kosovo’s freedom and to a new period of peace and stability in the region. He also emphasized that the ruling announced today is a first-instance decision and that the pursuit of justice has not ended.
Gashi called on citizens to remain united, calm and dignified, expressing their support for the liberators and their families. He said that a free Kosovo was the most difficult battle, which they won, while the memory of the generation that dared to dream of freedom should serve as a source of strength in the face of today’s ruling and future challenges, Gashi wrote./Telegrafi/
