The meeting was interrupted twice at the request of acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who had asked for more time to reach a political agreement concerning the post of president.
Kurti did not provide a clear answer the previous day when journalists asked whether his party would nominate a candidate for speaker of the Assembly. He said: “The Assembly session has been called for tomorrow; we will be there.”
The process of constituting the Assembly concludes with the election of the speaker and five deputy speakers.
Only after this step can sessions proceed for the vote on the new government and the election of Kosovo’s new president.
Regarding the formation of the new government, representatives of LVV have said they have the 61 votes needed, while support for the president is still uncertain.
